SCHOOL INFORMATION
St. Mary Assumption School is a
non-profit educational organization that is governed by the Diocese
of Scranton. Originally, the school was managed by the Sisters of
Christian Charity who filled the role of Principal and other
teaching positions till the year 2009.
The Home and School Parent Organization provide the largest amount
of income in their fund raising efforts.

Our future goal is
to maintain an educational atmosphere that will provide the best for
these children that is possible with the cooperation of the School
and the Parents working together for the good of the children.
Another goal is to
maintain a preparatory-like education richly steeped in Catholic
beliefs and traditions while upholding the highest academic
standards supported and enriched by the school and parents working
together for the good of the school community.
Faith
Development through faith development is a part of St. Mary's
Assumption School every day. Weekly Liturgies are a part of
St. Mary's Assumption School faith based education. Pastors
from the surrounding parishes celebrate Mass each week at St. Mary's
Assumption Church. All classes fully participate in weekly
Mass. Teachers and students in each grade level take turnes
preparing the Mass and fully present the Mass to the entire school
body. Many parents join the school community for weekly Mass.
All St. Mary's Asumption families and friends are invited to
celebhrate Mass with us each week. Throughout the school year
students prepare various Catholic faith filled prayers such as the
Rosary, Benediction, Holy Hour, Stations of the Cross and Prayer
Services. Students at St. Mary's Assumption School live the
faith in their daily lives by demonstrating respect, compassion and
kindness towards others.
St. Mary's Assumption School students generously donate their time,
talent and treasure to a wide variety of charitable organizations
such as the Holy Childhood Association (Missions), local food
pantry, clothes closet etc.
Your
child is in an accredited school. St. Mary's Assumption
Catholic School is re-accredited until 2017 by the Middle States
Commission on Elementary Schools, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. St.
Mary's Assumption School believes that the students benefit from

St. Mary's Assumption School has been selected to participate
in The National Assessment of Educational Programs (NAEP) in the
2011 National Assessment of Educational Programs. Our
grade 8 students have the opportunity to contribute to the
overall education initiative by participating.
St. Mary's Assumption School's participation will benefit our
students, our school and the nation. NAEP is regarded as the
gold standard for educational research because it is among the
most valid, objective, and inclusive assessments.
